“The only thing worse than being blind is having sight and no vision.”
Uniqueness is our greatest power and diversity is the future of fashion’s modern attire. I draw inspiration from looking at the essential outlines of objects around me, distorted and asymmetrical formations. I translate my designs through manipulating fabric, by draped layers of sheer tulle and expressive embroidery; this is a literal depiction of how my eyes move.
GRADUATE COLLECTION 2016
I use my frustrations and negative loss through creating large scale illustrations and develop ideas through touch and my sensitivity to the fabric. My final collation is inspired by my viewpoint, the actual realization of the restriction and inaccessibility of art work in exhibition spaces. My work is rough and raw, and aims to express awareness of sight disability. This encompasses an array of mixed textures; from the use of embroidery and reverse-brailled leather, to sheer, blurred cascades of organza and net.
